Overtime Policies
If a domestic worker MOHRE works on their rest day, they will be compensated in form of an alternative rest day or receive payment for their overtime work.
MOHRE’s Role in Protecting Domestic Workers
The Ministry of Human Rights and Emiratisation is working actively to protect the rights of domestic workers in UAE. It requires the employers to follow their obligations mentioned in the employment contract. MOHRE also requires employers following obligations that protect the rights of domestic worker MOHRE in UAE:
- The domestic workers in UAE will be provided all needed facilities by their employer to perform their duties.

Employers should only hire a domestic worker MOHRE if they have a valid license to work. Then they should enter into an employment contract with the worker. The domestic worker UAE must have a copy of the contract received too. The contract will include the specified time period of recruitment, responsibilities and rights of employers and type of work and salary of the worker. Advocacy for Domestic Worker Rights

Rights and Responsibilities of Domestic Workers under MOHRE

- The MOHRE domestic workers should perform their duties under employer’s supervision.
- The performance of their duties should be compliant to provision of the Employment Contract.

- Be respectful to the local customs and traditions.
- Follow safekeeping procedures to take care of and maintain items in possession.
- Domestic worker UAE must respect the privacy of workplace and not share any secret or information they have learned during the employment.
- All MOHRE domestic workers have to comply with the instructions of employer concerning completion of agreed work.
- Work tools should not be taken outside the workplace by domestic employer MOHRE except when permitted by the employer.
- Keep the work tools in their designated location.
